The Challenge

After acquiring another company in 2015, OneMain Financial became the largest brick-and-mortar consumer lender in America, with more than 1,600 branches and 10,000 team members. As the two entities came together, OneMain’s leaders recognized they needed to define the new company’s mission and vision to unite the two cultures. They also recognized that they would need to transform the behaviors across their complex branch-based network to achieve their strategy.

THE APPROACH

Angela Celestin, OneMain’s Chief Human Resources Officer, brought in THRUUE to drive this needed culture transformation and ensure the two distinct cultures could successfully become one. To do so, THRUUE first measured the culture to identify its strengths and gaps. THRUUE then facilitated multiple sessions with OneMain’s top 40 leaders to define a new mission, vision, and set of core values that could serve as “north stars” and guide OneMain’s transformation. After helping OneMain’s top leaders achieve this clarity, THRUUE worked with Angela Celestin to develop a transformation roadmap and training materials to activate the new mission, vision, and values across all levels of the organization. With these materials, OneMain is well positioned to address barriers to change and fully bring its new mission, vision, and values to life.

THE RESULT

The THRUUE team created excitement and energy around moving our culture from good to great! We started with measuring our post-merger culture and have moved into the development of a new mission, vision, and set of core values that will help take us to new heights on our journey as one.” – Angela Celestin, Former EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer, OneMain Financial
